Product specification:

UNIPAK jointing compound is a grey, high-viscosity paste consisting of a saponified fatty acid mixed with natural minerals viscosity adjusting oils and water. All ingredients are permitted additives in foodstuffs and the like.

Use:

UNIPAK jointing compound is used together with flax/hemp for sealing threaded joints of piping for cold and hot water and low pressure steam.

Technical specifications:

UNIPAK jointing compound together with flax/hemp ensures completely tight threaded joints that can be easily disassembled later. Application of UNIPAK jointing compound ̶ contrary to e.g. thread seal tape ̶ also provides a large adjusting flexibility as the pipe joints remain tight when loosened.

Instruction for use:

The sealing flax is wound evenly on the thread and tightly on the total thread length in the tightening direction. Thereafter, proper amount of UNIPAK jointing compound is spread evenly on completely packed thread; then the joint is tightened immediately and the system is ready for use. Excessive jointing compound is removed for example with a piece of cloth. The above recommendations are based on tests and experience. As we cannot control use of the product, test installations are recommended to ensure the product is suitable for the required installation.

Tests:

Danish Technological Institute has tested UNIPAK jointing compound in different conditions. These have proved that jointing of threaded pipes/couplings with UNIPAK jointing compound and flax/hemp enables to obtain pipe joints that are tight even at 140 °C temperature and the pressure of 8 bars. The studies have also proved that UNIPAK jointing compound has no impact on the quality of water.
